Boss-Imposed Time. The time we spend doing things we would not be doing if we did not have a boss.
Bosses Are Problems. Though not necessarily the most frequent nor the most severe disrupter of your time, your boss can be the principle disrupter because he has final say as to your priorities.
Solution: "Managing" Your Boss. Right or wrong, your boss’ anxieties are the source of his impositions on your time. Your strategy is to maximize your freedom-of-action by minimizing his anxieties both concerning what you are doing and how you are going about it.
Quotations of William Oncken, Jr.
“Anything you are doing that your boss can’t see isn’t happening. If you want to be recognized for something, be sure you do it in recognizable form."
"It’s lousy to work for a nervous boss, especially if you are the one who is making him nervous!’’
"It is easier to help your boss make up his mind than it is to persuade him to change it."
